The Bunnell Finger Knuckle Bender is a dynamic finger splint designed to flex the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint, while still allowing active extension of the finger.
Rubber bands can be added or removed to change the flexion force, and the wires and bands can be bent to modify fit and function.
Gently flexes the PIP joint with rubber-band tension.
The user can still actively extend the finger.
Add or remove rubber bands to change the tension.
Wires and bands can be bent to fit the finger.
Applying the splint
- Attach only one end of the rubber band to the hook first – with no dynamic force on the PIP joint it is easier to position the splint.
- Slide the finger into the splint, positioning the wider finger band on top of the finger and behind the DIP joint, and the bar under the PIP joint.
- Complete attaching the rubber bands. Your health professional evaluates fit and function and instructs you on use.
Care
- Clean with mild soap and a damp towel.
- Air dry completely before reapplying.
Contact your health care professional immediately if you experience loss of sensation, swelling or skin irritation.
