LifeVac® is designed for use after basic choking first aid (such as back blows and abdominal thrusts) has failed:
- Attach to device: firmly push and twist the correct-sized mask onto the LifeVac® base.
- Position the mask: place the top of the mask over the bridge of the nose and the bottom between the bottom lip and chin for a secure seal.
- Hold securely: with your non-dominant hand, firmly hold the mask in place, making sure the mouth is open.
- Create suction: with your dominant hand, depress the bellows using the handle, then pull the handle back swiftly and firmly to generate suction and remove the obstruction. Hold the mask firmly in place throughout.
- Repeat if needed: continue until the airway is clear or help arrives.
