The Bunnell Reverse Knuckle Bender is a dynamic finger splint designed to extend the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint, while still allowing active flexion of the finger.
Rubber bands can be added or removed to change the extension force, and the wires and bands can be bent to modify fit and function.
Gently extends the PIP joint with rubber-band tension.
The user can still actively bend the finger.
Add or remove rubber bands to change the tension.
Wires and bands can be bent to fit the finger.
Applying the splint with only one end of the rubber band attached to the hook (no dynamic force on the PIP joint) makes it easier to position the splint correctly on the finger. Then attach the remaining rubber bands.
Your health professional should check fit and function and instruct you on use.
Measure the length of the finger from the MP crease to the DIP crease, and the width of the finger at the MP joint.
